God is Good

God is Good

Do you want to hear the good news or the bad new first? I usually go with “tell me the good news first”, thinking the bad news will go away. That’s just what we naturally want to hear. The positive first. They teach you this in counseling when communicating during conflict. Share the good things first and then the part that you need to confront about.

God also knows this about us. When God was telling Adam in the garden of Eden what his jobs would be, God started with the positive. “You can eat from any tree,” He said.

The Moody Bible commentary says that this is best translated as, you should eat. I love how much God knows us! God knows your needs and mine. He knows what is good for us and what is bad.

God doesn’t stop there. He continues in Genesis 2

15 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

– Genesis 2:15-17

God says, “You just can’t eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil…”

Obeying God is good for us

It’s actually the better option.

Because our God is good and He knows us so well.
